Nvember 19 will be the longest 'partial' lunar eclipse of this century in different countries. 

In fact, it will be the longest partial lunar eclipse in 580 years, but it will not be possible to see in Pakistan.

 

By the way, don't be fooled by the partiality because it will be almost like a total lunar eclipse ie 97% of the moon will be under the shadow of the earth.

Remember that the shadow of the earth that falls on the surface of the moon due to the rotation of the earth between the moon and the sun and the moon starts to look dark is the moment of lunar eclipse.

When the shadow falls on the moon, it is called lunar eclipse and when it falls on the sun, it is called solar eclipse.

 

When the green process is at its peak, the upper left corner of the moon will be seen shining.

 

This partial lunar eclipse will last just over 6 hours and the moon will pass through the darkest part of the Earth's shadow for 3 hours 28 minutes 24 seconds, which will cause it to be a partial lunar eclipse since 1441. It will be the longest eclipse of the century.

 

During an eclipse, the moon is not as dark as the sun, but some of the sun's light passes through the earth's atmosphere, making the moon appear reddish. 

 

It is also called Blood Moon because of its red color. 

The partial lunar eclipse will be visible on the night of November 19 in North America, Russia, South America, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, China and parts of Southeast Asia.

 

The eclipse will begin at 12:18 pm on Friday according to Pakistani time and will reach its peak at 3:47 pm.

 

So why would this lunar eclipse be so long? 

This is because at that time the moon will be farthest from the earth in its orbit, due to which its speed of rotation will be the lowest while passing through the shadow of our planet.

 

For example, in May 2021, the duration of a lunar eclipse was 5 hours and 2 minutes, during which it took 2 hours and 53 minutes for a total lunar eclipse or moon to pass through the shadow of the earth.
