Three consecutive raids were carried out on the house of senior journalist Mohsin Baig. In the first raid, Mohsin Baig was taken into custody while later his two drivers were arrested and some belongings were confiscated from the house.

 

Mohsin Baig's family alleges that government officials took away computers and USBs with them.

 

The first raid

The FIA Cyber Crimes Wing registered a case against Mohsin Baig on the complaint of Federal Minister Murad Saeed at 9 am on Wednesday.

Minutes later, an FIA team raided Mohsin Baig's home in Islamabad without a warrant. 

 

Meanwhile, the FIA ​​team clashed with Mohsin Baig, his son Hamza Baig and his other accomplices and a fire broke out.

Speaking to Geo News, Mohsin Baig's son said that at first it seemed to him that thieves had come to his house, arrested my father and dragged him away.

Police along with FIA shifted Mohsin Baig to Margalla police station where a terrorism case was registered against him for attacking FIA team.

After that, the police produced Mohsin Baig in the anti-terrorism court and obtained a three-day physical remand. At the court premises, Mohsin Baig said that he had been tortured.

 

 

Sessions Judge Islamabad declared the first raid illegal

On the other hand, the Additional Sessions Judge of Islamabad, while declaring the FIA raid on Mohsin Baig's house as illegal, said that the persons concerned were not authorized to carry out the raid. An FIR should have been lodged against the raiders, if the detainee applied, the IG Islamabad should take action against the concerned SHO.

The court also ruled that the anti-terrorism court was in a better position to determine the legal status of the alleged detention.

 

2 more raids

Following the court's decision, plainclothes officers raided Mohsin Baig's home two more times.

According to the family, during the two raids, officers took a pistol, a gun, two USBs, a laptop and an iPad from the house. Two drivers were also detained.

Mohsin Baig is a businessman who also owns a newspaper and a news agency.

Until recently, he was a supporter of the PTI government headed by Prime Minister Imran Khan, but some time ago he became a fierce critic of the government.

 

 

Why was the case registered?

A case was registered against journalist Mohsin Baig in Cyber Crime Wing Lahore. The case was registered on the complaint of Federal Minister Murad Saeed.

According to the text of the FIR, Mohsin Baig used immoral language against Murad Saeed in the TV program, baseless story and insulting remarks were given in the TV program and the program was also shared on social media.

It is said in the FIR that an attempt was made to tarnish the image of Murad Saeed among the people.
