The 2022 Winter Olympics kicked off in the Chinese capital, Beijing, with a colorful opening ceremony attended by Prime Minister Imran Khan, Russian President Vladimir Putin and other heads of state.
According to Reuters, the opening ceremony of the Winter Olympics was attended by Chinese President Xi Jinping, Russian President Vladimir Putin, Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan, Uzbek President and other heads of state.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by Prime Minister Imran Khan, Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi, Planning Minister Asad Umar, Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry and others.
Gilgit-Baltistan-based athlete Muhammad Karim is representing Pakistan in the Winter Olympics and will compete in Alpine Skiing.
Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry said in a tweet that "dozens of teams came but if there was applause for any team after China in the stadium, it was Pakistan team. Ordinary Chinese love Pakistan and these applause are an expression of that spirit."
Mohammad Karim will represent Pakistan in the Winter Olympics for the third time, while Pakistan has participated in the Winter Olympics four times in total.

Zheng Yimu said the opening ceremony presented a changed world landscape, including the Corona pandemic, and said that evil forces were trying to discredit China.
