PML-N leader Hamza Shahbaz has approached the Lahore High Court to block the appointment and transfer of Inspector General (IG) Punjab and Chief Secretary Punjab.

Opposition leader in the Punjab Assembly and Chief Ministerial candidate Hamza Shahbaz has filed a constitutional petition in the Lahore High Court.
The Punjab government, Chief Secretary and IG Punjab have been made parties in the petition of Hamza Shahbaz.
The petition states that the resignation of Usman Bazdar as the Chief Minister of Punjab has been accepted, there is no cabinet in the province and no Punjab government has been formed.
He said that according to the law, appointments and transfers of IG and Chief Secretary could not be made during the elections.

He said that at present the Chief Minister was going to be elected in the province and meanwhile the transfer of Chief Secretary and IG was being considered.
The PML-N nominee for the post of Chief Minister of Punjab has requested in the petition that the transfer of IG Punjab and Chief Secretary Punjab be stopped.
It may be recalled that Prime Minister Imran Khan had sacked the Chief Secretary and IG Punjab for allegedly failing to deal with deviant members of PTI in support of his nominee for the post of Chief Minister of Punjab, Chaudhry Pervez Elahi. Has been removed.
The federal government has decided to appoint Tahir Khurshid, former principal secretary to the Punjab chief minister, acting as acting secretary, National Food Security and Research Division, as chief secretary and Fayyaz Dev, CCPO, Lahore, as IG Punjab.
