Pakistan opening batsman Shaun Masood scored his first double century while playing for Derbyshire in the English County Championship and thus became the first Pakistani opener to score a double century in county cricket.

By the end of the first day play against Sussex in Derby, Derbyshire had made 327 for a total of 2 wickets, while stylish left-arm batsman Shaun Masood, 32, was not out with 201 runs.

Shaun Masood has played 25 Test matches for the Pakistan cricket team, with the best 156 runs of his career, he is in full form in the English tournament these days.

He scored 91 and 62 in Derbyshire opening match against Middlesex last week.

Shaun Masood also had a record partnership of 236 runs for the third wicket with Wayne Madison against Sussex. Wayne Madison was unbeaten on 88 runs at the end of the match.

While bowling for Sussex, none of the bowlers except Steven Finn failed to bring the opposing batsmen under constant pressure and taking advantage of this situation, Shaun Masood made 50 off just 60 balls.

Until the lunch break, the Pakistani star batsmen were unbeaten on 74 off 88 balls. After the meal, Shaun Masood completed his century by playing a series of brilliant strokes on both sides of the wicket.


In the last session of the day, he continued to score runs and he reached 150 off 191 balls.

The Sussex team also includes Pakistan cricket team wicketkeeper-batsman Mohammad Rizwan and India Cheteshwar Pujara. This is a rare occasion when Pakistani and Indian cricketers are representing the same team.
