The district police officer on Tuesday suspended the station house officer (SHO) of Chichawatni Saddar for using insulting language against PML-N vice-president Maryam Nawaz on social media.

the DPO has appointed the Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) of Chichawatni Saddar Circle as an inquiry officer to investigate the matter and submit a report within three weeks.

A statement said that the remarks made by SHO Sub-Inspector AD Shaheen as a member of a disciplinary force were undesirable.
AD Shaheen had on Monday uploaded insulting and defamatory comments against PML-N leader Maryam Nawaz on his Facebook account.
Local PML-N leaders condemned the SHO comments and complained about how an on-duty police officer could use derogatory language against the vice-president of a major political party.
Taking note of his subordinate remarks, the DPO suspended Shaheen under the Government Servant Efficiency and Discipline Rules 1973 and asked him to immediately report to Police Lines Sahiwal.

The suspension order states that the SHO was suspended for his incompetence, irresponsible behavior and negligence in discharging his duties.
