In the Asia Hockey Cup 2022, a crucial match between the traditional rivals Pakistan and India ended in a 1-1 draw after a thrilling contest.

According to the Pakistan Hockey Federation, the match between traditional rivals Pakistan and India in the ongoing Asia Hockey Cup in Jakarta, the capital of Indonesia, was thrilling and ended without any result.

In the first quarter of the match played in Jakarta, Salom Kharti from India scored a goal to give his team the lead which was maintained till the closing moments while several attempts were made by Pakistani players to score.

The Pakistani team's attempt to end India's lead in the match came to fruition when the game was entering the last moments.

Rana Waheed scored a goal with the help of a short corner to bring Pakistan back in the match and the players of both the teams could not score any more goals till the last moment of the match and the match ended in a draw.

Goalkeeper of the national team Akmal Hussain was declared the best player of the match for his brilliant performance.

The Pakistani team will play its second match in the event tomorrow (May 24) against host Indonesia and the third match on May 26 against Japan.

Along with the national team, Olympian Khawaja Junaid, Head Coach Siegfried Ekman, Coach Wasim Ahmed, Physical Instructor Daniel Berry, Physiotherapist Adeel Akhtar and Video Analyst Nadeem Lodhi are also present in Indonesia for the event.

In the Asia Hockey Cup, the teams were divided into two groups, with Group A comprising India, Pakistan, Japan and host Indonesia.

The other group in the Asia Hockey Cup includes Malaysia, Korea, Oman and Bangladesh.
