A blast in Saddar area of Karachi killed one civilian and injured eight others while several vehicles were also destroyed.

Jinnah Hospital Director Dr Shahid Rasool said that one civilian was killed and eight others were injured in the blast.


Dr. Shahid Rasool said that most of the people were injured by ball bearings.

Dawn was told by Karachi Police Chief Ghulam Nabi Memon that the nature of the blast was being ascertained. The blast damaged property including vehicles there.

 

IG police gave a preliminary report of the blast to Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah, in which it was said that the blast took place near United Bakery and it seems that IED was installed in the motorcycle.

The report said that a passerby was killed and several others were injured in the blast.

The Chief Minister was informed that a bomb disposal team was inspecting the site and CTD officials were also present at the site and an investigation was being carried out from all angles.

Earlier, Provincial Information Minister Sharjeel Memon while talking to Dawn News had said that a tragic incident had taken place which he condemned.

He had said that he had spoken to the Chief Minister, he had declared an emergency in all the hospitals, had sent police and bomb squads to the spot, who were collecting evidence and would be informed as soon as the nature was known. Will
