The Karachi Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) has adjourned till May 12 the announcement of its safe judgment regarding the jurisdiction of the challan in the Nazim Jokhio murder case.

It may be recalled that Nazim Jokhio was assassinated in November 2021 at the farmhouse of MPA Jam Owais in Malir.

Complainant Afzal Jokhio had nominated PPP MPA Jam Owais, his elder brother MNA Jam Abdul Karim, his servants and bodyguards for killing his 26-year-old brother, as he had on November 3, 2021. The accused had prevented foreign guests from hunting.

Judges of ATC Court No. 15 are hearing the Nazim Jokhio murder case in the Judicial Complex located inside the Central Jail.

The ATC saved the April 29 murder case on the question of whether the trial of the case falls within the jurisdiction of the ATC court.

The decision of the anti-terrorism court, which was reserved on April 29, was to be announced today.

However, at the commencement of court proceedings today, Advocate Jibran Nasir, representing the National Human Rights Commission, said that his client had filed a petition in the Sindh High Court seeking review of the existing court order dated April 29 in which the court Kay said the NHRC involvement in the case as an interlocutor would be decided after the decision on the jurisdiction of the case was made.

He told the judge that the review petition is scheduled to be heard before the Sindh High Court today in which the NHRC has been asked to be allowed to join the proceedings so that the trial court has jurisdiction over the jurisdiction. Be allowed to present arguments on the jurisdiction of the case before it is determined.

Gibran Nasir said that he has therefore requested the ATC judge to postpone the announcement of his order on the jurisdiction of the case till the request of NHRC by the Sindh High Court. No decision is made.

Accepting Gibran Nasir plea, the ATC judge postponed the announcement of his decision on the jurisdiction of the case and fixed May 12 for the announcement of the decision regarding the jurisdiction of the court.
