The ministry said there was no change in trade policy with India, adding that the appointment of a trade and investment minister in India had nothing to do with trade restoration.
The statement said that the present government has approved the appointment of 15 trade officers, including New Delhi, and the appointment of the Minister of Trade and Investment in India is a routine appointment.
The Federal Ministry said that the process of deployment of 15 trade officers, including New Delhi, had started in December 2021 under the previous government and on April 1, 2022, the previous government had sent a summary of the appointment of trade officers to the former Prime Minister.
The statement said that the trade officers finalized by the previous government were approved by the current government.
It may be recalled that during the PTI regime, trade with India was suspended in August 2019, which is still suspended.
Earlier, on August 5, the Indian government revoked Article 370 of the Constitution, ending the special status of Occupied Kashmir.
