Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader and former Federal Minister for Human Rights Dr Shirin Mazari has been 'arrested'.
His daughter and well-known lawyer Iman Zainab Mazari Hazir said in a tweet that "male policemen beat my mother and took her away".
"I was only told that he had been taken away by the Lahore anti-corruption wing," he added.
On the other hand, PTI leader Shahbaz Gul in a tweet instructed PTI workers to reach Kohsar police station in Islamabad and said that Shirin Mazari was arrested from outside his house.

"I think women are a soft target, so I want to send a clear message to this government that if anything happens to my mother, I will not let her go," she said.
Condemnation of various leaders
PTI Punjab President Shafqat Mahmood condemned the arrest of Shirin Mazari, calling it "illegal and the worst case of kidnapping".
He announced that the party would hold a protest at Liberty Chowk in Lahore at 8 pm.
PTI leader Farrukh Habib also condemned the arrest of Shirin Mazari and said that "male police officers have insulted Shirin Mazari and dragged him away and arrested him".
"Officials visited his house a few days ago. Shirin Mazari is a living voice who presents her position without fear. This government is scared. Such tactics will not dampen our spirits," he said.
Former federal law minister Babar Awan said that "shameless, showy and courtiers are proving by arresting Shirin Mazari, no one is safe in their hands".
"Anarchy and civil war are their main targets. Shirin Mazari was beaten and dragged by public officials," he said.
Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) National Assembly member Nafisa Shah said in a tweet that Mazari arrest was "wrong" and that there were no charges against him.
PPP Senator Mustafa Khokhar strongly condemned the arrest and said that it was shameful and the worst political revenge.
Journalist Mazhar Abbas said, "Shirin Mazari is the first political prisoner under the current government. Political leaders and governments are not ready to learn from the past."
"I do not agree with his point of view, but I strongly condemn his arrest and the way he was treated," he said.
Journalist Asma Shirazi said the act was highly reprehensible and harassing.

Speaking in this regard, former Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry said that some time ago I had talked to Shirin Mazari and we were planning to go to the core committee meeting in Peshawar. He said that Mazari was not only a prominent leader of a political party but also a teacher and intellectual. He was highly respected in the world and had many services as a human rights minister and volunteer.
Fawad Chaudhry said that the manner in which the thugs of this government picked up a woman from inside the house, tortured her, tore her clothes and inhumanely put her in a car would not be called abduction.
"We do not know where they are. This is a gross violation of human rights. It is a declaration of war by the government and a declaration of war by us," he said.
He said that Imran Khan has been informed about this, now if there is to be a fight then there must be a fight.
Fawad Chaudhry said that we have directed our lawyers to file a petition for immediate release in the Islamabad High Court.
Speaking on the occasion, Senator Shibli Faraz said that this government is so bewildered that it has done its first blow to a woman of our party.
"We condemn the inhumane manner in which he was abducted and we will soon formulate a plan of action to inform the public," he said.

Talking in this regard, Awami Muslim League chief Sheikh Rashid said that the government has decided to spread anarchy and spoil the political atmosphere.
He claimed that this series of arrests would continue for 3 to 4 days and they could also arrest Imran Khan.
