Reacting to Sheikh Rashid statement that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan was ready to sit down with Prime Minister Shahbaz on the issue of early elections, Federal Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah questioned: Why beg the government and institutions, now "we will decide what is the best time for elections."

 

On social networking site Twitter, Rana Sanaullah said that while Imran was the Prime Minister, he had the power to dissolve the assemblies and hold fresh elections.

Sheikh Rashid, a longtime ally of former Prime Minister Imran Khan, said in an interview with VOA on Monday that Imran Khan was ready to talk to the Sharif government about holding early general elections, but his It is necessary to guarantee powerful circles.

Sheikh Rashid had further said that "Imran Khan does not want to shake hands with the leaders of Shahbaz Sharif coalition government but if the Establishment gives guarantee then the issue of elections can be discussed".

He further said that he was trying to clear the "misunderstandings" between the PTI and the Establishment, adding that the PTI should not confront the state institutions.

Sheikh Rashid had said that the party should have sat with the Election Commission of Pakistan so that it could persuade the commission to hold early elections.

The former interior minister had spoken of the PTI's march towards Islamabad to demand early elections.

He had warned that "Imran Khan is going to gather millions of people in Islamabad and in that case the country will go into a state of uncertainty which could lead to civil war".

Speaking to media today, Sheikh Rashid had said that PTI Islamabad march could be "bloody" and urged the powers that be to find a solution "before the long march" by May 31.

Reacting to Sheikh Rashid's remarks, Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah said on Twitter that people like Sheikh Rashid wanted to create a situation of civil war.
