Ministers of the previous PTI government have welcomed the FATF announcement that Pakistan has complied with all the points of the two-point action plan consisting of 34 points.

Speaking at a press conference after the four-day meeting, FATF President Marcus Player said the watchdog would soon visit Pakistan to confirm measures taken to curb terrorist financing and money laundering. After that Pakistan will be removed from the gray list.

Reacting to the FATF announcement, former Prime Minister and Chairman of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Imran Khan said that the FATF has repeatedly praised the work of our government and our political commitment on this issue. Appreciated it

The former Prime Minister said that when his government came to power in 2018, Pakistan was facing the danger of being blacklisted by the FATF while our country has a record of implementing FATF points. Not so good.

Imran Khan said in a statement on social networking site Twitter that he had formed the FATF Coordination Committee headed by Federal Minister Hamad Azhar. Regarding the F-Action Plan, the officers in the committee worked day and night to save the country from being blacklisted.

The former Prime Minister said that the FATF has repeatedly praised and appreciated the work of our government and our political commitment on this issue.

Chairman PTI said that we not only saved Pakistan from being blacklisted but also successfully implemented 32 out of 34 action items provided by FATF.

Imran Khan said that our government had submitted a report on the implementation of the remaining two items in April, on the basis of which the FATF has now declared Pakistan's action plan complete.

Expressing confidence, the former Prime Minister said that the FATF visit to Pakistan would also be a success.

On the occasion, Imran Khan praised Hamad Azhar and said that the former Minister for Energy, members of his FATF Coordination Committee and concerned officers had shown exceptional performance in getting Pakistan off the gray list.

Imran Khan in his statement said that the whole country is proud of him.

Reacting to the FATF announcement, former Federal Minister Hamad Azhar said that Pakistan has crossed a great milestone today.

Hamad Azhar, senior coordinator of the PTI government for anti-money laundering and anti-terrorism financing measures, said the FATF had given full status to the implementation of all 34 action items.

He said that only 2 action items were left to be implemented and based on the steps taken during the period of October and March, 2 points have also been cleared.

Hamad Azhar said that all the countries that have been removed from the gray list go through the process of on-site visit as per the procedure.

On the other hand, reacting to the progress, PTI leader and former foreign minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi credited the PTI and former prime minister Imran Khan for "the success" that the PML-N has in 2018. In the past, the country was put on the gray list.

He said that FATF has declared both the action plans as complete, the report of which was submitted by PTI government in March.

Earlier, following the FATF announcement, former Energy Minister Hamad Azhar, who was also the PTI government's top coordinator for counter-money laundering and counter-terrorism financing measures, took to Twitter to discuss the issue with officials. Sharing a photo of himself, he said that the hard work done by Pakistan for the implementation of 34 action items was the result of teamwork of officers working day and night in various government departments.

He praised the officers concerned and said that these people are real heroes of Pakistan.
