In the first match of the three-match ODI series against Pakistan, West Indies won the toss and elected to bat first and set a target of 306 runs.

The West Indies captain decided to win the toss in the match being played at the International Cricket Stadium in Multan.

The visiting team scored 305 runs for the loss of 8 wickets in the stipulated 50 overs while playing first.

West Indies played a brilliant game against Shay Hope and played an innings of 127 runs.

Apart from them, Shamarha Brooks also scored 70 runs while batting responsibly.

Apart from these two batsmen, Roman Powell scored 32, Romario Shepherd 25 and captain Nicholas Puran 21 runs.

Harris Rauf took 4 wickets while bowling brilliantly for Pakistan.

Fast bowler Shaheen Shah Afridi guided 2 guest batsmen to the pavilion

League spinner Shadab Khan took one wicket.

The Pakistan team includes captain Babar Azam, Fakhr Zaman, Imam-ul-Haq, Mohammad Dhawan, Shadab Khan, Mohammad Haris, Khushdal Shah and Mohammad Nawaz.

Besides, Shaheen Afridi, Haris Rauf and Hassan Ali are also part of the national team.

The West Indies squad includes captains Nicholas Pooran, Shay Hope, Kyle Meyers, Shamanha Brooks, Brandon King, Roman Powell, Romario Shepherd, Akil Hussain, Alzari Joseph, Jaden Sales and Hayden Walsh.

The second match of the three-match ODI series between the two teams will be played on June 10 and the third on June 12.

It is to be noted that the said series was part of West Indies tour of Pakistan in December 2021, however, the series was postponed after 5 cases of Code-19 came to light by mutual consent of Pakistan and West Indies.

In addition, the West Indies have agreed to a series of 3 T20 matches in early 2023, the schedule of which will be announced later.

The ODI series between Pakistan and West Indies is part of the ICC Men's Cricket World Cup Super League. These matches in the ICC League have World Cup qualifiers status.

The top seven teams will qualify directly for the 2023 World Cup, while the Indian team has already made it to the hosts.

The mega event of 50 overs matches will be played in October / November next year.
