A company employee in the Japanese city of Amagasaki lost a USB full of private information to people in the city while intoxicated.
According to a report in the Dawn newspaper, the employee of the company, which provides services to tax-exempt families, had put the USB in his bag before drinking with his office mates.
According to the Japanese broadcaster NHK, he spent several hours drinking at a local restaurant before losing consciousness on the street. Both are missing.

The company employee transferred all citizens' personal information to USB in the evening before meeting with office colleagues at night.
The information stored on USB included the names, dates of birth and addresses of all citizens, city officials said.
It includes more sensitive data, including tax details, bank account numbers and information on families using Social Security.

The name of the said employee has not been revealed yet, city officials said that it is the good fortune of this company employee that the data in USB is already encrypted and locked with password.
He added that so far there have been no reports of anyone trying to access secure information on USB.
However, the embarrassing incident prompted authorities to apologize, with the city's mayor and other officials formally apologizing to citizens.
"We are deeply saddened that we have so damaged the public's confidence in the city administration," an Amagasaki city official told a news conference.
