The Financial Action Task Force (FATF) has said after a four-day meeting that Pakistan has implemented all the points of the two-point action plan consisting of 34 points.

Speaking at a press conference after a four-day meeting in Berlin, Germany, on Tuesday, FATF President Markus Player said that Pakistan had fulfilled all the conditions of the two separate action plans consisting of 34 points. Not being removed from the gray list today.

He further said that FATF Corona would visit Pakistan as soon as possible after reviewing the situation, after which Pakistan would be removed from the gray list.

Acknowledging the reforms made by Pakistan, Marx Player said that it is good for the security and stability of Pakistan.

He said that Pakistan has to ensure that it has effectively curbed money laundering and terrorist financing.

Reacting to the FATF's announcement that Pakistan has implemented all the points of the two-point plan of action consisting of 34 points, Pakistan's Minister of State for External Affairs Hina Rabbani Khar congratulated the nation.

In a statement released on the social networking site Twitter, Hina Rabbani Khar said, "Congratulations to Pakistan that the FATF has finalized both the action plans."

The Minister of State further said that the international community has unanimously recognized our efforts and endeavors, our success is the result of our difficult and challenging journey of 4 years.

Hina Rabbani Khar said that Pakistan reiterates its commitment to continue this journey of success and boost its economy.

The Minister of State applauded the Pakistan team working on the FATF points on this achievement and raised the slogan "Long live Pakistan".

Delegates representing 206 FATF members and observers attended the plenary session, which included observers from the International Monetary Fund (IMF), the United Nations, the World Bank and the Egmont Group of Financial Intelligence Units.

Diplomatic sources had earlier told Dawn that China and some other allies were quietly working to get Pakistan off the gray list during the latest meeting and were working on it.

Recent international media reports have also cited "silent lobbying" led by China, and an Indian news agency reported that the meeting was likely to remove Pakistan from the list. Decisions will be made by those under supervision, commonly referred to as the 'gray list'.

Politicians and journalists from various parties, including the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), posted on social media today that the FATF has removed Pakistan from the gray list, but Minister of State for External Affairs Hina Rabbani Khar Warned that biased and speculative reporting of results should be avoided.

He noted that the full meeting was still ongoing and that the FATF would issue a statement tonight after its conclusion.

He said that a press conference in this regard would be held at the Foreign Ministry on Saturday.

Federal Information Minister Maryam Aurangzeb also confirmed his statement.

A government spokesman told BBC Urdu that according to the information available at the moment, the result is expected to be in Pakistan's favor, but he clarified that even if the country was removed from the list It will take 7 to 8 months to fix.

The spokesman added that if Pakistan was removed from the list, the FATF team would visit the country to assure that work on its recommendations had been completed.

Four years on the gray list
Pakistan has been on the gray list since June 2018.

Sources told Dawn that the April 9 decision of the anti-terrorism court in Lahore could also be helpful in removing Pakistan from the list in which the court sentenced LeT chief Hafiz Saeed to 33 years in prison on terrorism charges. Was sent to jail.

Supporters of the move to remove Pakistan from the list say the two cases that led to Hafiz Saeed's imprisonment were filed by Pakistan's anti-terrorism department.

At its last plenary in Paris in March, the FATF noted that Pakistan had completed 26 of the 27 in its 2018 Action Plan. The FATF encouraged Pakistan to 'As soon as possible' focuses on the remaining item on the investigation of terrorist financing and the targeting of senior leaders and commanders of UN-designated terrorist groups.

The FATF acknowledged that six of the seven action plans and recommendations that Pakistan was asked to implement in June 2021 to combat money laundering have been implemented.

For the latest plenary session, the Foreign Ministry had prepared a presentation showing how Pakistan had completed all the 27 tasks assigned to it.

PTI's 'success'
Ongoing speculation about Pakistan's possible expulsion from the list is on the rise, and former PTI cabinet members have claimed that the credit goes to the PTI.

Former Finance Minister Shaukat Tareen said that getting out of the "gray list" was another major achievement of Hamad Azhar, who was also the former Minister for Energy and senior coordinator of the government's efforts to combat money laundering and financing terrorism.

In the previous government, Minister for Human Rights Shirin Mazari called it another achievement of the previous PTI government.

Senator Ijaz Chaudhry said that he hoped that Pakistan would get out of the gray list today, calling it the result of the work of the government led by Imran Khan.

The party's official Twitter account also said that if we get out of the FATF's gray list today, the imported government may try to take credit, but everyone should know that since the change of government, FATF There is no law on F that they have passed, so if this success is achieved on FATF then the credit will go to Imran Khan.
