According to the Dawn newspaper, the resignations of the members who had publicly announced their resignations will be requested to be accepted.

The 131 members of the National Assembly were summoned by the Speaker today to confirm their resignations, but the PTI leadership has decided that the legislators will not appear before the Speaker.

In addition, the government has apparently adjourned the joint sitting of Parliament till June 9 on the refusal of President Dr Arif Ali to approve two important bills.

All the PTI members of the provincial assembly had resigned en masse after the end of their government in April, however, the speaker wanted the members to come in person and confirm their resignations in a 'voluntary manner and with sincerity'.

Sources in the National Assembly Secretariat told Dawn that it is likely that the Speaker will accept the resignations of Imran Khan and Shah Mehmood Qureshi as Imran Khan has publicly announced his resignations while Shah Mehmood Qureshi has tendered his resignation in the National Assembly. Was confirmed.

Sources in the government said that the government does not want to accept all the resignations at once to avoid the burden of by-elections on several vacant seats on the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP).

Last month, on June 6, a summons was issued by the Speaker of the National Assembly stating that he wanted 30 members to appear before him on a daily basis, after which the exercise would be completed in four to five days.
