Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif ordered immediate restoration of closed power plants in the country and demanded a report on the causes of load shedding.
According to a statement issued from the media wing of the Prime Minister's Office, an important meeting on power load shedding and overcoming the energy crisis was held in Lahore under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif.

The meeting was attended by Federal Minister for Planning Ahsan Iqbal, Minister of State for Petroleum Musaddiq Malik, Federal Minister for Finance Muftah Ismail, Federal Minister for Energy Engineer Khurram Dastgir, Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Maryam Aurangzeb, Member National Assembly Shahid Khaqan Abbasi and Prime Minister. Special Assistant for Public Policy / Strategic Communications Fahad Hussain attended the meeting via video link while the concerned senior officers were also present in the meeting.
During the meeting, while discussing the solution to the ongoing power crisis in the country, the Prime Minister ordered immediate restoration of closed power plants and directed the concerned authorities to submit a report regarding load shedding immediately. Explain the reasons clearly.

The Prime Minister also directed that the issues related to the provision of drinking water and agricultural facilities to the provinces should be resolved on priority basis and in this regard, IRSA should take decisions in consultation with the provinces and with independence.
It may be recalled that on April 14, Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif was informed that 27 power plants with a combined generating capacity of more than 7,000 MW were unable to operate due to technical problems or fuel shortages at a time when the country was in a state of disarray. Citizens face power outages.
According to the Dawn newspaper, the Ministry of Energy presented a list of these power plants during the briefing and blamed the lack of proper direction and lack of political support for fuel arrangements.

It was clarified that 9 major power plants with a generating capacity of 3,535 MW were not functioning due to fuel shortage, including four plants which were shut down due to shortage of LNG, two The furnace is closed due to oil shortages, a low coal inventory and the expiration of a gas supply agreement.
In addition, 18 other plants were not available for a long time due to technical glitches and lack of repair and maintenance.
Former Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, who has held the portfolio of the Ministry of Petroleum in the past, pointed out during the briefing that there is a complete lack of coordination between the Ministry of Energy's Petroleum and Power Division and prioritizes the issue over wasting time in blaming. The basics must be addressed at the outset.
He suggested that the Power Division should come up with a forecast of its demand immediately to see what could be done immediately in consultation with the Petroleum Division and to come up with a mechanism for such planning and arrangements. It must be followed.
