An earthquake has shaken Iran, killing at least five people and injuring 12 others.
According to the European Mediterranean Earthquake Center, the quake struck in the south of Iran, with a depth of 10 km and a magnitude of 6.1. According to Iranian media, the quake also damaged buildings.
The epicenter of the quake was the Iranian port of Linga, 150 kilometers from the UAE state of Sharjah. The epicenter was reported below the ground, however; no tsunami alert was issued.

On the other hand, tremors have also been felt in the United Arab Emirates, including Dubai and Sharjah.
According to UAE officials, no casualties or damage were reported from the quake in the UAE.
The US Geological Survey said the quake measured 5.6 on the Richter scale in Sharjah and Dubai.
