The Day of Ashura (10th of Muharram) will be celebrated across the country today with religious devotion and respect, with the aim of sacrificing oneself and one's comrades' lives by holding the flag of truth and truth despite facing the most severe suffering in the field of Karbala. It is to pay homage to the great sacrifices of Imam Hussain (RA) and other martyrs of Karbala.



Mourning processions will be taken out under tight security in all the small and big cities and towns of the country, in which the mourners will mourn and remember the atrocities committed on the martyrs of Karbala.

On this occasion, scholars and remembrancers will highlight the great and bright teachings of Hazrat Imam Hussain and various aspects of the tragedy of Karbala in their speeches.

In connection with Ashura, tight security arrangements have been put in place across the country to deal with any untoward incident and mobile services will remain suspended.

The Sindh government has banned helicams or drones used for video recording of media channels during processions and congregations from 8th to 10th Muharram.

According to the spokesperson of Sindh Police, 5 thousand 313 police personnel have been deployed for the security and monitoring of the main routes of the main procession, snipers of the Special Security Unit have also been deployed on the routes of the procession.

The spokesman further said that 1000 traffic police personnel have been deployed to ensure smooth flow of traffic on alternative routes/roads.

The Sindh Police urged citizens to keep a close watch on suspicious persons and report any emergency to the police through its helpline.

Yesterday, Sindh government spokesperson Murtaza Wahab along with provincial ministers Sharjeel Memon and Saeed Ghani visited the Central Police Office and reviewed the work of monitoring the processions.

On the other hand, Chief of Islamabad Capital Police Dr. Akbar Nasir Khan says that a central control room has been set up to monitor the processions in Safe City Islamabad, mobile phone services will remain suspended in several areas due to security reasons.

The IG Police had further said that strict vigilance will be maintained by the police to ensure safety measures and SOPs and instructions issued by the government will be followed.

He said that the bomb disposal squad will check the routes using robots and advanced technology during the entry and all the people will be allowed to participate in the procession only after complete checking.

Apart from this, mourning processions will be taken out from other small and big cities including Lahore, Quetta and Peshawar which will end at their destination through their designated routes.
