Heavy rains and floods in Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa claimed the lives of 8 more people, including 6 children, while torrential rains continued in different parts of the country.
According to the report of mak news-21, the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa confirmed that at least 6 children were swept away in the flood after continuous torrential rains in the districts of Upper Dir and Swat. died while 9 people were injured in other related incidents.
On the other hand, Rescue 1122 Punjab has confirmed 2 deaths due to the mountain storm, one in Dera Ghazi Khan and one in Rajanpur. Damaged.

Thousands of people displaced by the floods are stranded without shelter in the rain along the banks of the river and along the Indus Highway, with waist-deep water in and around their residential areas.

Floods in Swat, Lower Dir

In Upper Dir's Gundigarh, a two-room house collapsed due to heavy rains but the occupants were unharmed, hundreds of students from a flooded school in Mingora were rescued by local people, Rescue 1122 and Civil Defense teams.
Commissioner Malakand Division Shaukat Ali Yousafzai said that all the departments are actively participating in the relief activities, relief measures have been started after the water receded.
He said that in this regard, all the resources are being utilized in the light of the orders of Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Mahmood Khan and he is supervising all the arrangements himself.
Infrastructure destroyed
A large part of Dera Ghazi Khan has been submerged in water causing widespread disruption of power supply, severely damaging the city's electricity transmission infrastructure.
Statistics show that 640 transformers, 1,575 single-phase meters and 145 three-phase meters were damaged in the area during the recent heavy rains.
Superintendent Engineer MAPCO (Dera Ghazi Khan) Mohammad Hasnain Shakeel said that out of the 21 sub-divisions of MAPCO Circle, Fort Munro, Rojhan and Tobi Qaisrani areas have been completely submerged, while Wahwa and Peak areas are 75% submerged and Almost half of the areas of Shadan Laund, Dujl, Rajanpur, Shah Sadar Deen and Quetta Road are under water.

An official said that the railway track from Taunsa Barrage to Rojhan was also damaged.
In both the districts, the main irrigation system of the Irrigation Department was also badly affected by the torrential water of the mountain storm, roads and dozens of bridges were washed away.
Barthi Road and Taunsa Musa Khel Road are still closed and the N55 Indus Highway is in a bad condition after the floods and needs immediate repair, with a total of 60 roads submerged in water in both districts.

Chief Executive Officer Education Zulfiqar Mulghani said that 86 schools in Dera Ghazi Khan district were closed after being hit by floods.
An official from Rajanpur claimed that 60 percent of the schools in the district have been submerged while the remaining schools have been converted into relief camps.
Chief Executive Officer Health Dr. Abdul Karim said that 30 primary health units and rural health centers have been badly affected by heavy rains and mountain storms in Dera Ghazi Khan.

He said that 60% of basic health facilities in Rajanpur have been affected due to flood.
Apart from this, the large stock of wheat stored by the Food Department in Fazilpur and Shahdan Land has also been destroyed.
Aid activities
The Punjab government has started providing relief supplies including food and medicine to the flood affected areas of Dera Ghazi Khan and Rajanpur.
Locals, however, complained that they had seen vehicles carrying food and shelters, but the bureaucracy was distributing these goods to areas of their choice.
A meeting of the Disaster Management Ministerial Committee chaired by Chief Minister Punjab Chaudhry Pervez Elahi was held at the Chief Minister's Office in Lahore, in which the relief activities for the flood-affected areas in Rajanpur, Taunsa and Dera Ghazi Khan were reviewed.

The Chief Minister directed the Chief Secretary Kamran Afzal to visit the flood affected areas immediately and also directed him to supervise the relief activities for the flood victims.
He ordered that rescue and relief operations should be accelerated and all institutions should help the flood-affected population.
An officer of Rescue 1122 said that relief operations have been started, boats are being provided to the district administration to carry bags of food and medicines.
Meanwhile, the rehabilitation work of Nudus Highway has also been started and the work will be completed by August 27.
