Maharashtra Businessman Shows Generosity, Offers Kambli Job With Rs 1 Lakh/Month Salary

Over the years, we have seen many rags-to-riches stories in cricket. Talented cricketers who use their skills to succeed at the highest level and to take their families out of poverty.

At the same time, we have also heard numerous stories of famous cricketers going bankrupt, and pleading with the authorities for financial help.

As fans, it’s hard for us to see the superstars of previous generations going through such difficult times and when Vinod Kambli shared his plight during an interview, the majority of the people felt the same.

After all, the Mumbai batter was once hailed as the next big thing in Indian cricket. In fact, he even had a terrific start to his international career, amassing 793 runs in his first seven Tests.

At the time, everyone believed he would go on to achieve great things on a cricket field but he could never reach the heights that his talent deserved.

Kambli is today remembered as one of those highly-talented cricketers who couldn’t handle the pressure of international cricket and faded away despite showing early promise.

Cut to today, Kambli’s financial struggles have left him with no choice but to make a public appeal for a cricket-related job.

In a recent interview with Mid-day, the former southpaw said that his family was living off a Rs 30,000 pension that he receives from the Indian cricket board.

Drawing public attention to his financial plight, the 50-year-old had urged authorities to offer him a cricket-related assignment.

Listening to his plea, a businessman from Maharashtra Sandeep Thorat has come forward and offered the former cricketer a job with a monthly salary of Rs 1 lakh.

As per reports carried out by various Marathi websites, the said offer is not a cricket-related assignment. Kambli has been offered a job in the finance division of Sahyadri Industry Group in Mumbai.

It’s great to see a businessman showing such generosity. However, it would be interesting to see how Kambli reacts to this good news.
