A US federal judge has agreed to appoint a special master to review materials and documents seized during a search of former President Donald Trump's Florida residence.

According to the foreign news agency "Reuters", US District Judge Ellen Cannon said in her decision that the court's authority to appoint a special master to review personal items, documents and materials is subject to attorney-client privilege claims.  Gives

Allen Cannon's ruling allowed U.S. intelligence officials to continue to assess national security risks in the investigation.

Donald Trump has accused the Justice Department of launching a biased investigation against him, and his lawyers have argued that appointing an independent third party to review the content would be an important check on the government.

Donald Trump is facing an investigation after he left the White House in January 2021 over allegations he destroyed government records, many of which were classified, that were kept at his Mar-a-Lago estate in Palm Beach. .

The Justice Department also said it was investigating possible obstruction, after the FBI uncovered evidence that Trump's team deliberately withheld classified documents when agents tried to obtain them in June.

Donald Trump's representatives falsely confirmed at the same meeting on June 3 that they had diligently searched and returned all classified material to the government, a claim later disproved when the FBI nearly 33 boxes were recovered, containing more than 11,000 government records and photographs, which were declared classified.

Donald Trump's legal team waited two weeks after the FBI's August 8 search and petitioned the court to appoint a special master.

It should be noted that a special master is an independent third party, sometimes appointed by the court in sensitive cases to review material potentially covered by attorney-client privilege to ensure that Investigators don't take this the wrong way.

For example, a special master was appointed to search the homes and offices of two of Trump's former attorneys, Rudy Giuliani and Michael Cohen.
