 The Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) has issued instructions to TV channels not to telecast the Long March and other programs including speeches by PTI leaders live.


 A notification issued by Pemra on October 28 said that the TV channels had been instructed not to air the program live earlier, but the compliance was very poor.


 Pemra said that the transmission was monitored today, it was observed that statements against institutions were broadcast live during the speech, which is in violation of the court order and code of conduct.


 Television channels have been ordered to refrain from airing material that (knowingly or unknowingly) amounts to defamation of state institutions, and to issue instructions to their editorial boards, directors, bureaus and reporters in this regard.


 Pemra warned that failure to follow the guidelines could lead to legal action, including suspension and cancellation of licences.
