Pakistan Tehreek -e -Insaf (PTI) has approached the Islamabad High Court in connection with the approval of the resignations of its members from the National Assembly.
The petition requested that the Speaker instruct the National Assembly to fulfill its constitutional responsibility for the approval of the resignations.
The petitioners also requested that the court order Speaker Raja Pervez Ashraf to ask the applicants and 112 members and investigate that the members who resigned were given their will under Article 64 of the Constitution.

The petition states that the speaker cannot satisfy the National Assembly resignations without hearing the applicants according to the law.
The petition stated that the petitioners did not appear before the speaker so their resignations were not approved, the election was not announced yet and the resignations of 123 members were not seen together.
The petitioners took the stand that when the resignation of the Member National Assembly Shakur Shad was approved, he requested in the court that the speaker had approved his resignation without hearing him.
The Islamabad High Court suspended his resignation notification on the request of Chinchanga Shad.

It is to be remembered that at a meeting of the parliamentary party chaired by former Prime Minister Imran Khan in April, PTI members jointly decided to resign from the National Assembly membership.

PTI Vice Chairman Shah Mehmood Qureshi announced the decision to resign from the Assembly on April 11, a few minutes before the election of Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif.
Former Deputy Speaker Qasim Suri (who was then acting as acting speaker) immediately approved the resignation and directed the National Assembly Secretariat to issue a notification.
Following the formation of the new government, in June, the new Speaker National Assembly Raja Pervez Ashraf decided to start the process of confirming the resignations of 123 members of the PTI, individually or in small groups.
However, PTI chairman Imran Khan barred his party's National Assembly from appearing before the National Assembly Speaker Raja Pervez Ashraf to confirm the resignations.

Later, Speaker National Assembly Raja Pervez Ashraf approved the resignation of 11 members of Pakistan Tehreek -e -Insaf (PTI) in July this year, including Sherin Mazari, Ijaz Ahmed Shah, Ali Muhammad Khan, Farrukh Habib, Fazal Muhammad Khan, Shaukat Ali, Fakhr Zaman Khan, Jamil Ahmed Khan, Mohammad Akram Cheema, Abdul Shakoor Shad, Shandana Gulzar Khan were included and the Election Commission issued notification of the resignations of the members.
Since Shirin Mazari and Shandana Gulzar Khan were elected to reserved seats for women from Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the Election Commission decided to hold by -elections in the remaining nine seats.
However, these by -elections were postponed due to floods and monsoon rains.
A day earlier, PTI Secretary General Asad Omar announced that only 11 of more than 100 resignations of PTI members in the National Assembly would approach the High Court against the approval of the resignations.
