Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif has formed a high-powered committee to probe the audio leaks issue, which includes federal ministers and heads of intelligence agencies.




According to the notification issued by the cabinet division, the head of the high-powered committee will be Federal Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah, besides Federal Minister for Law Nazir Tarar, Minister for Climate Change Sherry Rehman, Minister for Information Maryam Aurangzeb, Federal Minister for Information Technology. and Communications Syed Aminul Haq, Director General of Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI), Director General of Intelligence Bureau (IB) and Cabinet Secretary.

Technical experts from Pakistan Telecom Authority (PTA), Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), ISI and National Information Technology Board will also be part of this investigation committee.

The committee will look into the cyber security breach in the Prime Minister's Office and ensure that all aspects of the matter are looked into within 7 days.

The notification further stated that the committee will review the existing cyber security protocols of the Prime Minister's House, and suggest immediate measures and action plans to develop a foolproof security system and digital ecosystem.

The committee will also review the existing e-safety and cyber security procedures. It will also review the risks associated with the devices.

It should be noted that the important topic of discussion in the country is 'audio leaks' as a few days ago the audio of the conversation between the Vice President of Pakistan Muslim League (N) Maryam Nawaz and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif was leaked. But Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf gave a political response.

After this, another audio surfaced in which Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah and other federal ministers could be heard discussing government matters and this too was debated on social media.

An audio clip of a conversation between former prime minister Imran Khan and his principal secretary Azam Khan also surfaced, in which they allegedly discuss 'cipher'.

It may be recalled that on September 28, in the national security meeting presided over by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, it was approved to form a high-powered committee to investigate the issue of audio leaks.

The important meeting of the National Security Committee was held at the Prime Minister's House under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, in which apart from federal ministers, service chiefs, heads of sensitive institutions and other senior officials participated.

In the meeting, certain aspects related to the security of the Prime Minister's House were identified and suggestions were made about 'foolproof security' arrangements to remedy them.

It was said in the statement that emergency measures are being taken to ensure the security of the Prime Minister's House and other important places, buildings and ministries to avoid such a situation in the future.

It was agreed in the meeting that keeping in mind the context and requirements of the current changing environment of modern technology and cyberspace, emphasis was placed on reviewing security, safety and government discourse to ensure security so that any security system Couldn't break through
