Federal Interior Minister Sheikh Rashid held a press conference on the issue of police operation in Parliament Lodges.

Sheikh Rashid said that we have not arrested two members of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam National Assembly but they are sitting in the police station of their own free will. They have been on our side, we will not arrest Maulana Fazlur Rehman either. The company will not be advertised.

He further added that those who take the law into their own hands will be dealt with severely and whoever commits violence will be crushed.

Sheikh Rashid on the appeal of Maulana Fazlur Rehman to block the roads said that where the road is closed, they will be dealt with according to law.

Sheikh Rashid also aired a video statement of an Ansarul Islam official during his press conference.

 

 Earlier in his statement, he had said that we do not have good information.

Sheikh Rasheed said that they brought 70 people, their clothes were changed in their lodges, we negotiated for five hours to hand over these people to us, the people of Ansar-ul-Islam are also coming back, you will suffer the consequences. We will try to stop them. People are coming from outside.

It may be recalled that today in the presence of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI) bodyguard Ansar-ul-Islam activists in Parliament Lodges, Islamabad police conducted an operation and arrested several persons.

 

The operation in Parliament Lodges was carried out under the command of DIG Operations. The media was expelled from the Parliament Lodges after which the police personnel broke the door of Salahuddin Ayubi lodge and started making arrests.

According to reports, police have transferred 10 persons to the police station secretariat. Among those arrested are JUI National Assembly member Salahuddin Ayubi, Jamaluddin and JUI Islamabad spokesperson Mufti Abdullah.

The police operation against Ansar-ul-Islam lasted for 30 minutes during which several leaders of Ansar-ul-Islam changed their clothes and left the lodges.

According to reports, after the police operation, more police personnel have been deployed in Parliament Lodges while the team conducting the operation left Parliament Lodges.
