According to Indian media, Congress chief Sonia Gandhi had removed the party presidents of five states after their defeat in the elections, after which Navjot Sadhu also resigned from the presidency of Congress Punjab.

It is to be noted that in Indian Punjab, Congress President Navjot Singh Sadhu had lost the election. He was defeated by 6000 votes in which Sadhu got 32929 votes and his rival got 39520 votes.
Talking to media after the defeat in the election, Sadhu said that the name of change is politics, he congratulated the people of Punjab on their best decision.
