David Bennett, 57, of Maryland, USA, was reportedly implanted in a successful operation on January 12, 2022, after which he was feeling better.
The cause of David's death has not yet been determined, but doctors say his condition has deteriorated over the past few days.
David Bennett was the first person in the world to be successfully tested on a pig's heart. To that end, scientists genetically modified the heart of a pig so that it would be acceptable once it entered the human body.

It may be recalled that Dr. Mansoor Mohi-ud-Din of Pakistani origin was also part of the team operating on David.
In an exclusive interview with Geo News, Dr. Mansoor had said that "in the initial experiments, the heart of a monkey was implanted but it did not prove to be useful. However, the experiment on pig remained useful".
He said: "We examined all the animals to see which animal was closest to man. In the beginning, the heart of a monkey was implanted, but it did not prove to be very useful. Come on, there are other reasons why we did all the research on pork.
He said that the cost of a pig heart transplant in a patient was PKR 17.5 million.
In this regard, Dr. Mansoor said that "the cost is high due to initial experience but there is no need to worry about transplant".
He added: "The patient who was implanted in the heart was very sick. We had no choice but to do this. In this case, the patient and his heart have to be constantly monitored. We have to take care that we treat the patient." A new heart has been given but will the rest of the body also accept this thing?
