The no-confidence motion against Prime Minister Imran Khan was successful in the National Assembly after which he is no longer the Prime Minister of the country and at the same time he became the first Prime Minister of the country to be removed through mistrust.
Refusing to vote on the no-confidence motion, Speaker Asad Qaiser resigned and handed over the house to Ayaz Sadiq, after which the proceedings of the meeting were adjourned under his chairmanship.
Meanwhile, government benches in the House were completely vacated and government members left the House.
The bells were rung in the House for 5 minutes and the doors were closed after which Ayaz Sadiq read out the no-confidence motion against the Prime Minister and the sitting of the House was adjourned till 2:00 pm.
Later, the National Assembly session resumed with the recitation of Holy Quran and Naveed Qamar presented the resolution after which the referendum began.
Meanwhile, 174 members voted in favor of the no-confidence motion, making Imran Khan the first prime minister of the country to be removed through a no-confidence motion.
Deviant members did not cast their votes during the no-confidence motion.
Police and security agencies in Islamabad and nearby cities were alerted.
According to sources, the special branch and intelligence agency have been instructed not to hold protests or celebrations.
Sources said that it has been directed to prepare lists of PTI workers in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Jhelum, Nowshera and Swabi while it has also been directed to prepare lists of PTI workers in Peshawar, Attock and other nearby cities. ۔
