The Lahore High Court has directed the Speaker of the National Assembly Raja Pervez Ashraf to take oath from the newly elected Chief Minister of Punjab Hamza Shahbaz on today Saturday at 11:30 am.

The court decision came on the third petition filed by newly elected Punjab Chief Minister Hamza Shahbaz seeking swearing in of a person nominated by the court due to the behavior of President Arif Alvi and Governor Omar Sarfraz Cheema.

Justice Jawad Hassan of Lahore High Court while delivering the verdict directed the Speaker National Assembly to take oath from Hamza Shahbaz.
At the beginning of the hearing, Justice Jawad Hassan had asked what was the order of Chief Justice Lahore High Court.
Hamza lawyer Khalid Ishaq then read out the order and told the court that the president and the governor were openly violating the Punjab constitution.

Hamza Shahbaz lawyer said that this court has to protect the constitution, law and fundamental rights.
Justice Jawad had remarked that no one should dare to disobey the order of the court, it is a question of honor of the High Court and Pakistan, the High Court passed two orders but they were ignored, I I will definitely follow the path I saw.
Hamza Shahbaz lawyer told the court that the Lahore High Court had issued directions for the selection of the chief minister, adding that the governor was refusing to take oath from the elected chief minister in violation of the court's instructions.
Justice Hassan asked why the petitioner did not make the President and Governor of Punjab a party in the case. To which Hamza Shahbaz lawyer replied that he did not need to be a defendant in the case.

It should be noted that the newly elected Chief Minister of Punjab and PML-N leader Hamza Shahbaz has not been sworn in yet. The PML-N leader had approached the Lahore High Court for the third time this morning against not taking oath.
Hamza Shahbaz had made the federal government and the Punjab government a party in the constitutional petition filed in the Lahore High Court.
Petitioner Hamza Shahbaz said that the Lahore High Court has issued orders regarding the oath but the court orders are not being implemented.
He had taken the position that the Governor of Punjab had once again refused to comply with the order of the court.
Hamza Shahbaz had further said that the Governor Punjab once again blew up the orders of the High Court while the President also did not respect the orders of the apex court.

He termed the attitude of the President and the Governor of Punjab as treacherous and insulting and said that this attitude required action. The High Court should take action against the unconstitutional and insulting attitude of the President and the Governor of Punjab.
Hamza Shahbaz had requested the High Court to intervene in the matter for the fundamental rights of the citizens of the province and Hamza Shahbaz and order him to take oath to run the province in a constitutional manner.
He requested the Lahore High Court to appoint a representative to take oath from Hamza Shahbaz, also to fix the time and place for taking oath and to declare the actions of those who did not take oath as unconstitutional.
It may be recalled that Hamza Shahbaz had approached the Lahore High Court for the third time for the swearing in ceremony.

Earlier on April 27, the Lahore High Court had directed Punjab Governor Omar Sarfraz Cheema to take oath from the newly elected Punjab Chief Minister Hamza Shahbaz by April 28 or issue a directive to nominate someone else for the post.
The written decision remarked that after the acceptance of the resignation of former Punjab Chief Minister Usman Bazdar, the province has been running without a functioning government for the last 25 days.
The decision said that the Governor Punjab should ensure the completion of the oath of office of the Chief Minister of Punjab on or before April 28 in accordance with Article 255 of the Constitution, either by himself or through his nominated representative.
Earlier, Hamza Shahbaz had filed an affidavit on April 19 stating that the governor was violating the constitution by not fulfilling his responsibilities. Release

The petition was withdrawn by the Lahore High Court as it was not completed, after which the League leader re-filed the petition on April 20.
Hamza Shahbaz had filed another petition on April 25 alleging non-compliance with court orders from the swearing-in ceremony. Petition The new petition filed by Hamza Shahbaz named Secretary to the President of Pakistan, Federal Government and Secretary to the Prime Minister as parties.
The petition contends that the Lahore High Court had directed the President of Pakistan to appoint a representative for the oath, the court orders are not being implemented, the President of Pakistan is delaying the order of this court without any reason.
