Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Rameez Raja has decided not to resign after Shahbaz Sharif was elected Prime Minister of the country following a successful no-confidence motion against Imran Khan.

According to Dawn, sources said that Rameez Raja will decide whether to continue as PCB chairman or not on the basis of the new Prime Minister treatment of him. The head of the cricket board has the power to appoint.

Rameez Raja replaces former PCB chief Ehsan Mani, who took over the post after Imran Khan came to power in the 2018 general elections. Ehsan Mani was appointed after Najam Sethi's resignation. Najam Sethi had resigned when he felt that Imran Khan would not allow him to complete the remaining three years of his term.

Najam Sethi was the head of the PCB during the PML-N regime and PML-N president Shahbaz Sharif is now in power. Najam Sethi is once again one of the suitable candidates to become the chairman of the cricket board. ۔

Najam Sethi played a pivotal role in the launch of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) and is said to have taken the initial steps to bring international cricket back to the country.

During his tenure as PCB chief, the ICC World XI, Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe cricket teams visited Pakistan.
