Punjab Governor Omar Sarfraz Cheema, while announcing the postponement of the swearing in ceremony of the newly elected Chief Minister of Punjab, said that as long as I hold this post, I will not endorse any unconstitutional move nor any unconstitutional move. I will take action.

Addressing a press conference at the Governor House, Omar Sarfraz Cheema said that the Deputy Speaker had been directed by the Lahore High Court to hold a clean and transparent voting for the Chief Minister of Punjab yesterday. The violence that has taken place is extremely shameful and unfortunate, which deserves less condemnation.

He said that the followers of the same party had molested an officer of Pakistan Army two days ago and the manner in which state power was used in Parliament should be condemned.

The Governor Punjab said that those responsible should also see where the situation is heading and in whose hands power is being handed over.

Omar Sarfraz Cheema said that the manner in which the election was fought yesterday would set a very wrong precedent. If Hamza Shahbaz really had the required number of supporters, then there was no need to make the election so controversial.

He said that the report of yesterday incident has been requested from the Assembly Secretary which will be shared with the media. Can we call it a transparent election?

He said that keeping in view the report of the Secretary Assembly, I have written to the Advocate General of Punjab and the Speaker of the Punjab Assembly seeking their opinion, as I cannot confirm any unconstitutional move by sitting on this constitutional post.

Omar Sarfraz Cheema said that the swearing in of the Chief Minister of Punjab will not proceed till the opinion of Advocate General Punjab and the Speaker Punjab Assembly has come and I am not satisfied that the election of the Chief Minister is in accordance with the Constitution and court orders. Adapted.

Asked about tonight swearing-in ceremony, he said it had been postponed.

Asked about the reports of dismissal, he said that the Prime Minister does not have any such discretionary powers, he sends a summary to the President, until the President of Pakistan notifies him. But persist

He said that now the nation has to decide in whose hands power is being given under a conspiracy, their history is full of Memo Gate and Don Lex, these hands are rising on us today but I am clear. Let there be no escape from their evil.

It is to be noted that the meeting of the Provincial Assembly for the election of the Chief Minister of Punjab, which was held at 11:30 am yesterday, was marred by commotion even before the regular commencement when the members of the Assembly returned to the House carrying slogans and chanting slogans against the deviant members. And Deputy Speaker Dost Mohammad Mazari was tortured, after which the Deputy Speaker was taken out of the House under tight security.

Meanwhile, a scuffle broke out between the government and opposition members. A heavy contingent of Punjab Police along with SSP operations reached the Punjab Assembly to control the situation.

Chief Ministerial candidate Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi also got into a commotion and was injured in the violence and was taken out of the house.

Five-and-a-half hours later, Deputy Speaker Dost Muhammad Mazari returned to the assembly and announced the start of voting amidst great commotion and chanting of slogans, while the PML-Q and PTI boycotted the voting process and walked out. But voting continued.

After the voting, the Deputy Speaker announced that PML-N Vice President Hamza Shahbaz got 197 votes and he has been elected as the Chief Minister of Punjab.

After which notification of victory of Hamza Shahbaz was also issued by the Deputy Speaker.
