The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has ordered an inquiry against Farhat Shahzadi alias Farah Khan and others on charges of amassing illegal assets beyond known sources of income, money laundering and keeping various accounts in the name of various businesses.
A statement issued by the NAB said that for the inquiry against Farah Khan, the DG NAB Lahore has been directed to inquire into the matter in accordance with the law.
The NAB said that during the last three years, Rs 84.7 million was found in Farah Khan's account which did not match the account profile she described.

The NAB said that all the money was received in his personal account which was immediately withdrawn from the account shortly after it was deposited in the account.
The statement said that in various media reports referring to her, Farhat Shahzadi alias Farah Khan was accused of being involved in making assets beyond legal means.
The NAB said that while reviewing the income tax returns of Farhat Shahzadi alias Farah Khan, it was alleged that her assets had increased significantly and unexpectedly since 2018 due to unknown reasons.
The NAB further said that Farah Khan has been visiting foreign countries frequently, she has visited the United Arab Emirates 9 times and the United States 6 times.

It is to be noted that Farah Khan, a close friend of former First Lady Bushra Bibi, had recently left the country and moved to Dubai. She was seriously accused of corruption by the opposition.
According to a report in Dawn newspaper, the sources said that Farah Khan had left the country for Dubai after the dissolution of the Assembly on the issue of no-confidence motion against former Prime Minister Imran Khan.
Sources also said that her husband had already left the country.
PML-N vice-president Maryam Nawaz had alleged that a friend of the prime minister's wife had embezzled large sums of money in appointments as per the wishes of the officers.
Maryam Nawaz had termed it as the 'biggest scandal' in which Rs 6 billion has been embezzled.

Maryam Nawaz had said, "I dare to mention the name of Farah, a friend of Bushra Bibi, who got crores of rupees in terms of appointments and transfers and it is directly linked to Bani Gala (Imran Khan residence)." '
He claimed that once the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government returned home, the mind-boggling corruption stories of Imran Khan & Co. would come to light.
Former Punjab Governor Chaudhry Sarwar and Aleem Khan, an old friend of the Prime Minister, had also alleged that Farah Khan, with the help of former Chief Minister Usman Bazdar, had made appointments and transfers in Punjab for crores of rupees.
Talking to media in Lahore, Aleem Khan had said in response to a question about corruption that he did not want to name Imran Khan or his family but Farah Khan has committed a lot of corruption.
Aleem Khan alleged that Farah Bibi was present in every contract and every posting and transfer and in her opinion she has now left Pakistan.
He said that his sources told him that Farah Bibi along with her husband had fled the country and everything had been collected from here. Aleem Khan asked what was the role of Farah Khan, to whom was she delivering money? At the same time, he said that when the investigation is done, everything will come to light.
