President Arif Alawi has termed the suicide attack on Chinese residents at Karachi University as an attempt to sabotage the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPC) and said that "enemy countries" were behind the attack.

A statement issued from the Presidency said that President Dr. Arif Alvi visited the Chinese Embassy in Islamabad to express solidarity with the Chinese people and government over the death of Chinese nationals in a suicide attack at Karachi University. The embassy charge d'affaires spoke to Peng Chunchoi and officials.

The statement said that the President expressed his heartfelt condolences on the loss of precious lives of Chinese nationals in the terrorist attack that took place on April 26, 2022 in Karachi.
The President said that the entire Pakistani nation is deeply saddened and shocked by this tragic incident and he shares the grief of his Chinese brothers and sisters equally.
The statement said that Arif Alawi reiterated his commitment that Pakistan would spare no effort to ensure the safety of Chinese citizens and bring to justice those involved in this heinous incident.
Strongly condemning the incident, he said that the hostile intentions of our enemies were behind him who wanted to harm the Pak-China friendship and C-Pac project but they would not succeed in their intentions as the two countries were at loggerheads. Deep friendships are established and they are committed to further strengthening the everlasting friendship.
The President asked the Chinese Secretary of State to extend his heartfelt condolences to the people of China, the Communist Party and President Xi Jinping.

According to the statement, the Chinese charge d'affaires thanked the president for visiting the embassy and expressing solidarity with the Chinese people and government, and said that the two countries have commonalities in the future and a spirit of friendship and close cooperation between them. He condemned the attack and hoped that the perpetrators would be arrested and punished. Later, the President wrote his remarks in the embassy guest book.
According to APP, President Dr. Arif Alvi while talking to the media on the occasion said that I express deep sorrow and regret with the people of China.
He said that fraternal friendship and people-to-people ties exist between Pakistan and China. With the loss of precious lives of three Chinese nationals, it seems as if we have lost our Pakistani relatives.
He expressed his condolences to Chinese President Xi Jinping, the Communist Party of China and the Chinese people over the tragic incident.
The President said that deep friendly relations between Pakistan and China are a threat to our enemies and therefore they are seeking to discourage China from expanding China's peaceful efforts through our assistance, BRI and C-Pack.
He said that the nefarious intentions of terrorists need to be thwarted together. Of course, Pakistan has achieved success against terrorism but this incident has taken place which is very painful for us.

The President assured China that the Government of Pakistan would take all possible steps to trace and punish the culprits.
Appreciating the services of Chinese citizens in Pakistan, he said that we need mutual cooperation in other fields including technology, culture, language, communication.
The President said that the three Chinese nationals who were killed were working for the improvement of communication skills between China and Pakistan. We assure that we will ensure the security of Chinese citizens like our own citizens.
