During his visit to Kot Lakhpat Jail, the Prime Minister also visited the barracks where he was kept during NAB custody.

During his visit to the jail, Shahbaz Sharif met the inmates and reviewed the prison arrangements. The Prime Minister also announced a two-month reduction in the sentence of the inmates on the occasion of Eid.

The Prime Minister also announced the formation of a committee headed by the Home Minister, which would formulate a strategy for the improvement of prison facilities and the overall system.

On this occasion, he said that it was the duty of the government to make the prisoners who have completed their sentence active citizens of the society and available resources would be utilized to meet the basic needs of the prisoners.

He said that steps should be taken to make the prisoners skilled so that they could play an active role in the society after their release.

The Prime Minister further said that all the four provinces would be represented in the committee for improving the prison system.

On the other hand, during the visit of Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif to Kot Lakhpat Jail, PTI leader Fayyaz Chauhan said that despite being in power for 40 years, he did not think of the jail staff and prisoners.

Fayyaz Chauhan said that our steps for the betterment of prison staff and prisoners will be remembered forever. He hoped that Shahbaz Sharif would take practical steps instead of showmanship.
