US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken telephoned Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and congratulated him on taking over the ministry, expressing his desire to further strengthen relations between the two countries.

 

According to a statement issued by Foreign Office Spokesperson Asim Iftikhar, Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari was called by US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken.

The statement said that during the phone call, the US Secretary of State congratulated Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari on assuming office and expressed his desire to strengthen the ongoing Pak-US bilateral relations of mutual interest.

According to the Foreign Office Spokesperson, while discussing various aspects of Pakistan-US relations, the Foreign Minister highlighted that Pakistan and the United States have a long-standing relationship.

He said that constructive and lasting ties based on mutual respect and mutual interest between the two countries were essential for the promotion of peace, development and security in the region and beyond.

The Foreign Minister emphasized that Pakistan vision is focused on human development, regional ties and peaceful neighborliness.

The Foreign Office said that Pakistan and the United States have been cooperating in the last two years to combat the epidemic of code.

The US Secretary of State invited Pakistan to attend the Second World Code Virtual Summit later this month.

Pakistan was also invited by the Secretary of State to attend the Ministerial Meeting on Global Food Security to be held in New York on May 18, 2022.

The Secretary of State and the US Secretary of State also agreed to stay in touch and enhance cooperation on regional and global issues of mutual interest.

According to the Foreign Office, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Hina Rabbani Khar made a virtual participation in the High Level International Donors Conference on u----- held in Warsaw, Poland.

A statement from the Foreign Office said that the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs had expressed deep concern over the ongoing war, the growing number of civilian casualties, the deteriorating humanitarian situation and the refugee crisis.

The Minister of State reiterated Pakistan principled position for the comprehensive and permanent implementation of the principles of the United Nations Charter to ensure lasting peace and security.

He reiterated Pakistan demand that the u------ conflict be resolved through dialogue and diplomacy as soon as possible. The Minister of State said that Pakistan was preparing to send another batch of humanitarian aid to the people of u-----.

The first shipment from Pakistan to u----- was delivered in March, which included more than 15 tons of relief supplies, including food and medicine.
