Muslim countries have expressed outrage at the insulting remarks made by leaders of India ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) against the Prophet of Islam (PBUH), while Qatar, Kuwait and Iran have called on India's ambassador. Called and recorded his protest.

A statement issued by the Qatari Foreign Ministry said that after the incident, Qatar summoned the Indian ambassador and handed him an official letter of protest expressing frustration with Qatar and the ruling party of India. The statement further said, "The Bharatiya Janata Party is also against any ideology which insults or humiliates any sect or religion. The BJP does not promote such people or such a philosophy. During this time every religion flourished and developed here while the Hartiya Janata Party respects all religions.
