Announcing the increase in prices of petroleum products, Federal Minister for Finance Muftah Ismail said that even today we are increasing the prices of petrol and diesel by Rs. 30.
Addressing a press conference in Islamabad, Finance Minister Muftah Ismail said that the price of petrol has been increased by Rs 30 per liter, after which a liter of petrol has become Rs 209.86.
New prices per liter of petroleum products
- Petrol 209 rupees 86 paise
- Diesel 204 rupees 15 paise
- Kerosene 181 rupees 94 paise
- Light diesel 178 rupees 31 paise
He said that the price of diesel has also been increased by Rs 30 per liter, now the new price of diesel will be Rs 204.15.
The Finance Minister said that the price of light diesel oil has also been increased by Rs. 30 after which its price has been reduced to Rs. 178.31 per liter.
He further said that the price of kerosene is being increased by Rs 26.38 per liter after which its price has been increased to Rs 181.94 per liter.

He said that despite this increase in prices, the government was still losing Rs 8 on light diesel and Rs 9 on petrol and Rs 23 on high speed diesel.
The Finance Minister said that we estimate and realize that this decision will increase the hardships of the poor but at present the prices of petroleum products are increasing all over the world.
He said that the government would continue to sell sugar at Rs. 70 per kg and flour at Rs. 40 per kg to provide relief to the poor throughout the year.
Muftah Ismail said that at present the government is giving subsidy of Rs. 100 on cooking ghee and oil at utility stores while subsidy is also being given on rice and pulses.
Muftah Ismail said that we have to make Pakistan better, as much as Imran Khan has damaged the economy of Pakistan, it has to compensate, 25 thousand billion loan was taken in 71 years, 80 of it during last 4 years. Imran Khan's government has increased the debt of 20 thousand billion percent.

The finance minister said that we cannot afford to give subsidy. The government had a loss of 120 billion rupees by giving subsidy. Maybe, if we do that, will I bank report to the government, bankrupt the country.
He said that the countries that produce petrol, we were selling cheaper petrol than them, they were selling cheap petrol from Iran so petrol stopped coming from Iran.
"If sanctions are not imposed, we are ready to buy cheap oil, gas and wheat from any country, including Russia and Ukraine," he said.
He said that Imran Khan was talking irresponsibly, the former prime minister should not talk about breaking up the country.
It may be recalled that the government had last week also announced an increase of Rs 30 per liter in petrol and diesel prices.
