In a meeting of the National Economic Council (NEC) chaired by Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif, the four provinces have agreed in principle on the proposal to close markets and shops at 8.30 pm.

In the meeting of National Economic Council chaired by Prime Minister on Wednesday, important consultation has been completed in the meeting of National Economic Council chaired by Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif.

At the NEC meeting, the chief ministers agreed in principle with the decisions of the federal cabinet on nationwide measures to tackle the energy crisis.

The meeting was attended by Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah, Punjab Chief Minister Hamza Shahbaz and Balochistan Chief Minister Abdul Qaddos Bizenjo.

The meeting held important consultations with the Chief Ministers on the national strategy for tackling the energy crisis.

At the meeting of the federal cabinet on June 7, 2022, the provincial chief ministers were apprised of the proposals and decisions regarding energy saving. The four provinces agreed in principle to close the bazaars and shops at 8:30 pm.

The Chief Ministers of Sindh, Punjab and Balochistan sought a two-day respite to complete consultations with trade and business organizations in their respective provinces. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa was represented at the meeting by Chief Secretary Dr Shehzad Khan Bangash.

On the other hand, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Provincial Health Minister Timur Saleem Jhagra said in a statement on Twitter that his province had not agreed to close the markets at 8.30 am.


He said that it was stated in the meeting that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa would take a decision after consultation with the Chief Minister.


There will be a significant reduction in load shedding from July, the energy minister said

He said that we had started the management of the coal shortage a week ago. We hope that on June 15, the coal power plant will generate another 600 MW of electricity, which will reduce the load shedding by another half an hour. Will be less


Khurram Dastigar said that there is a K2 nuclear power plant in Karachi, which is being refueled. This will reduce the load shedding by more than an hour.

He said that the hydroelectric plant of Krot is in trial phase, the project was supposed to be fully operational in February 2022 but due to Imrani torment, the project has not been completed yet.

He said that the project was facing some natural problems with regard to water availability, as this morning the production from hydraulics was 3,696 MW which should be about four and a half thousand MW this season, to generate electricity from water. The full capacity is 8,500 MW which is achieved by the end of July.

The Federal Minister said that the fourth LNG power plant which should have come into the system three years ago, was not completed, we hope that the project will be operational on a commercial basis this year.

Talking about measures to save electricity, PML-N leader Khurram Dastagir Khan said that it was proposed to close the markets early and reduce working hours by one day. It is suggested to reduce the consumption of electricity but also to save the expensive fuel required to generate electricity.

"That's why we're working to save and generate electricity at the same time," he said.

He said that not a single new megawatt system has been added in the last four years.

He said that all the power plant projects were started by Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif during the PML-N era.

"We are trying to reduce the load shedding as much as possible," he said.

He said that load shedding on 84% of the feeders was less than 4 hours. In case of electricity, everyone has his own analysis because those who have more electricity in their house will not believe that load shedding has been reduced.

He said the first step was to protect lifeline users using less than 200 units of electricity from the new price hike.

He said that yesterday we have stated the policy for the future that there will no longer be a single power plant in Pakistan that will run on imported fuel, ie we will not generate electricity by importing fuel.

He said that if 10,000 MW solar plants are installed in Pakistan before 2030, then Pakistan's energy needs will be met.
