The two climbers had climbed the world's ninth highest mountain, Nanga Parbat, at 8,126 meters on Tuesday morning, but were reported missing on their way back from the expedition.

The Gilgit-Baltistan government later launched a rescue operation a few hours later to search for the climbers.

Earlier in the day, the local administration announced that police officials and climbers at the base camp had confirmed that telescope visuals showed the two climbers descending from Camp 4 and that they were in good health.

However, bad weather did not allow Pakistan Army helicopters to reach the two climbers yesterday while the ground rescue team could not reach Camp 1.

A statement issued by the Pakistan Army Public Relations (ISPR) today said that the ground rescue team has contacted Shahrooz Kashif and Fazal Ali in Camp 2.

Earlier today, Gilgit-Baltistan Home Secretary Khalid Ishaq Khan had announced that the ground monitoring team had confirmed that climbers were descending from Camp 3 to Camp 2.

This development was also confirmed by Diamer Deputy Commissioner Fayyaz Ahmed who said that another team of climbers is present in Camp 2 who have walkie talkies.

On the other hand, a post from Shahrooz Kashif's official Twitter account said that the climbers have reached Camp 2 and are in good health.

The tweet added that the climbers spent the night of July 5 in the open waiting for the weather to clear and resumed landing early in the morning.

The tweet said that the two climbers showed great courage and determination to face the situation in such a difficult and unfavorable situation.

Shahrooz Kashif's father thanked the Pakistan Army, Chief of Army Staff, DG ISPR and the Gilgit-Baltistan government for their cooperation.
