Punjab Assembly Deputy Speaker Dost Mohammad Mazari rejected all 10 votes of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and Muslim League (Q) candidate Pervez Elahi as per the Supreme Court decision. After which Hamza Shehbaz remains the Chief Minister of Punjab with the lead of 3 votes.



In the election of Chief Minister, Pakistan Muslim League (N) candidate Hamza Shehbaz got 179 votes, while after 10 votes were rejected, Parvez Elahi got 176 votes and Hamza Shehbaz won by 3 votes.

After the counting of votes, Deputy Speaker Dost Mazari told the House that he has received a letter from Muslim League (Q) chief Chaudhry Shujaat.

Dost Muhammad Mazari, while reading the letter of Pakistan Muslim League (Q) chief Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain, said that all the members of the Punjab Assembly belonging to the Pakistan Muslim League are instructed that the voting for the Chief Minister of Punjab is scheduled on July 22. And as the head of Pakistan Muslim League, I am giving orders to all the members of the provincial assembly to vote in favor of Hamza Shehbaz Sharif.

He said that a copy of this letter has been sent to all party members.

The Deputy Speaker said that according to this letter, as per the decision of the Supreme Court, all the votes cast by Pakistan Muslim League (Q) are rejected.

He said that Hafiz Amar Yasir, Shuja Nawaz, Muhammad Abdullah Waraich, Parvez Elahi, Muhammad Rizwan, Sajid Ahmed Khan, Ehsanullah Chaudhry, Muhammad Afzal, Basma Chaudhry and Khadija Umar are the members whose votes were not counted.

He said that 10 votes of Muslim League (Q) are rejected and 10 votes have expired.

PTI's candidate for Punjab Chief Minister Pervaiz Elahi got 186 but after 10 votes were rejected, he got 176 votes, while Hamza Shehbaz got 179 votes and thus he got a lead of 3 votes.

After the Deputy Speaker's decision, PTI member Raja Bisharat said on the point of objection that I want to draw attention to 63A as to who has the right to direct the vote.

To Raja Basharat's question, the Deputy Speaker replied that according to the law, the head of the party has the right, Raja Basharat said that the parliamentary leader has the right and read out the constitutional clause.

He said that the head of the parliamentary party is Chaudhry Sajid and he should have given the order, but the deputy speaker said to read the order of the court, but Raja Basharat said that a meeting of the parliamentary party of Muslim League (Q) was held yesterday, in which he Decided that the vote will be given to Chaudhry Pervez Elahi.

The Deputy Speaker said that the votes of Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi were not being counted and as a result Hamza Shehbaz was the successful candidate for the Chief Ministership, who secured the majority of the members present.

He said that Hamza Shehbaz now has 172 votes and no one has 186 votes, but the Assembly meeting is being held for re-voting under Article 130 (4) of the Constitution.

Dost Mazari said that the members supporting Pervez Elahi and Hamza Shahbaz should move to the opposite side.

Reports of Chaudhry Shujaat avoiding support of Parvez Elahi
