Hollywood actress Amber Heard filed a petition for reconsideration against the judgment of the defamation case she lost in June last month.

Amber Heard earlier this month also filed a review petition against the losing verdict, which was rejected by the court.

According to the news agency "Agence France Presse" (AFP), Amber Heard's lawyers filed a second request on July 21 in the Virginia Court of Appeals.

The petition filed by the actress' lawyers has asked the court to overturn the jury's verdict in June.

The petition states that the actress feels that the jury did not fully consider all the evidence and statements in the verdict against her and repeated errors in the verdict.

The petition asks that the jury's verdict be annulled and all parties be given equal opportunities.

In an earlier petition, Amber Heard asked the court to overturn the jury's verdict and request a retrial.

In the first 43-page petition filed by the actress' lawyers, it was argued that the verdict in the defamation case was delivered without considering all the evidence and that the evidence did not support the verdict.

However, the court rejected their request and said in its judgment that the jury members gave their verdict after hearing the statements of all the parties and witnesses during the trial and there was no evidence that the jury was biased in delivering the verdict. Is.

The court rejected Amber Heard's plea and upheld the jury's verdict in early June. Amber Heard lost a defamation case against ex-husband Johnny Depp in the court of the American state of Virginia at the beginning of June last year.

After a long hearing, the court decided in favor of Johnny Depp, saying that the actor presented all the evidence against him and proved that Amber Heard insulted and defamed him.

The court fined Amber Heard $1.5 million for defamation, but Johnny Depp was also fined $15 to $2 million.

What was the real deal?

In March 2019, Johnny Depp filed a $50 million lawsuit against Amber Heard in the state of Virginia.

Johnny Depp filed the case after his ex-wife Amber Heard revealed in an article written in the Washington Post in December 2018 that she had been a victim of domestic violence. It was not written.

After the article, Johnny Depp was criticized internationally and people accused him of domestic violence on the Internet, after which he sued his ex-wife.

In August 2020, Amber Heard also filed a counter-suit against her ex-husband for $100 million in Fairfax County, Virginia, based on the filing of the aforementioned lawsuit and allegations made by her lawyers, including Johnny Depp.

The two personalities had accused each other of torture, false accusations and defamation in their filed cases.

The legal proceedings on the cases of both were ongoing since 2019, but later after the Corona epidemic, their trial was delayed and the formal trial of their cases started in April this year.

A seven-member jury, including women, was selected under US law to hear the cases of both.

The jury heard their cases for about eight weeks, during which Johnny Depp and Amber Heard also recorded statements and were cross-examined.

After the statements of all persons and witnesses were recorded, the trial was completed by the end of May and the jury returned its verdict on June 1.

The jury had decided that the two personalities defamed each other and made accusations against each other and fined both of them.
