The polling process started at 8 am and continued till 5 pm, during which there were reports of clashes at some places.

The Election Commission of Pakistan said that as per the election code of conduct, those who are already inside the polling stations will be allowed to vote, and the media will be allowed to broadcast unofficial results one hour after polling ends.

The ECP further said that the results will be considered unofficial till the declaration by the rating officer.

Dawn.com confirms that the counting of votes has started in Constituency PP-202 in Sahiwal while the doors of polling stations have been closed in Constituency PP-7 in Rawalpindi.

By-elections are being held on the 20 seats of the Punjab Assembly, in these 20 seats, 4 in Lahore, one in Rawalpindi, one in Khushab, one in Bhakkar, one in Faisalabad, 2 in Jhang, one in Sheikhupura, one in Sahiwal, It includes one seat in Multan, 2 in Lodhran, one in Bahawalnagar, 2 in Muzaffargarh, one in Leh and one in Dera Ghazi Khan.

According to the final polling scheme of the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP), a total of 45 lakh 79 thousand eight hundred and 98 registered voters will exercise their right to vote today.

A total of 3 thousand 131 polling stations have been established in these 20 constituencies, 731 male polling stations, 700 female polling stations and 1700 joint polling stations have been established.

Out of the 20 constituencies in particular, law enforcement agencies including the army have been put on alert in 5 constituencies, out of which 4 are in Lahore and one is in Multan.

On the request of the Election Commission, the Ministry of Interior has also deployed 2,000 FC personnel to improve the security situation.

Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah has said that security is on high alert to ensure law and order in the constituencies where by-elections are being held.

He said that Civil Armed Forces have been deployed in all constituencies on the request of Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP).

He said that additional personnel have been deployed in sensitive election areas while Rangers, Frontier Constabulary and Army troops have been deployed as quick response force.

13 PTI workers arrested for violation of code of conduct in Lahore

ECP sent notice to Shah Mehmood Qureshi for going to polling stations
