In view of the flood situation and rain emergency across the province, the Education Department of Sindh has announced holiday for two more days on Friday, Saturday (August 26 and 27) in all private and public schools and colleges.
Provincial Education Minister Syed Sardar Shah said in a statement that several districts have been affected by floods due to the rains across the province due to which schools and colleges have been flooded.
The education minister has said that schools and colleges in the flood-affected areas have been converted into relief camps for the flood victims, so it has been decided to keep the educational institutions closed keeping in view such a situation.

Earlier this week, Sindh government decided to close schools and colleges from August 24 to 25 in view of the disaster caused by the flood situation after heavy rains across the province.
According to the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), 13 people lost their lives and 40 were injured across Sindh in the last 24 hours.
The number of people killed in the province due to the torrential rains that started in June has so far exceeded 300.
In its report released today, the NDMA said that 46.5 km of roads and 15 bridges have been destroyed by the floods and the train track between Lucky Shah Sharif and Sehun Sharif is also blocked.

According to the Meteorological Department, the highest rainfall in the last 24 hours was 220 mm in Skarund, followed by 137 mm in Shaheed Benazirabad, 130 mm in Larkana and 116 mm in Mohan Jodaro.
'High level meeting chaired by the Chief Minister'
Earlier, Chief Minister Sindh Syed Murad Ali Shah in a meeting today decided to form committees at district level comprising of concerned Deputy Commissioners, V Corps, Engineering Corps, Local Government, Provincial Disaster Management Authority and local representatives to start relief. Will they conduct a survey to assess the damage?

He said that our aim is to reach out to the affected families and help them in a transparent, fair and decent manner.
The chief minister further said that the committees will also buy all necessary equipment and other items including tents, mosquito nets, food items, medicines and machinery.
Chance of more rain
The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has said that there is a possibility of thunderstorm and heavy rain in Sindh, East Balochistan, Dera Ghazi Khan and Dera Ismail Khan divisions.
