At least 50 people have been killed in floods and landslides following heavy monsoon rains in India.



According to the foreign news agency "Reuters", hundreds of villages were flooded due to the rains, the rain destroyed the houses and the residents are trapped while the rescue workers are trying to save the victims.

Earlier this month, the Federal Meteorological Office forecast that India would see average rains in August and September, indicating that Asia's third-largest economy would have a good crop, which would boost growth and employment. It depends on agriculture to create opportunities.

According to the report, agriculture accounts for 15 percent of India's $2.7 trillion economy, while more than half of the country's population of 1.3 billion is dependent on agriculture.

At least 36 people have been killed in landslides and floods following heavy rains in the Himalayan state of Himachal Pradesh over the past three days, government officials told Reuters.

According to the data released by the government, 4 people have died and 13 people are missing due to continuous rains in the nearby state of Uttarakhand.

Officials of Uttarakhand Disaster Management Department Ranjit Kumar Sinha said that the rescue operation is going on in full swing, helicopters are being used to rescue people trapped in remote areas due to rain-related incidents.

At least six people have died due to rains in the northern state of Orissa, state officials said.

According to the report, about 8 lakh people have been affected by the floods in Orissa, while thousands have been displaced, power and water supply problems due to rains and road infrastructure have been damaged.

Officials in Ramgarh district of the eastern state of Jharkhand said that 120,000 people have been evacuated in the state so far, while 5 people were swept away by the river on Saturday.

Ramgarh district official Madhavi Mishra said that 4 bodies have been recovered so far.
