Addressing the meeting, Climate Change Minister Sherry Rehman stressed on urgent humanitarian efforts in the wake of the devastating floods, admitting that Pakistan is not capable of handling the situation on its own.

He said, "Now we are facing the seventh round of stormy monsoon due to which thousands of people have been displaced, 830 people have died and 1,348 have been injured. Its intensity can be estimated from the fact that Sindh has received 395% more rain than average and Balochistan has received 379% more rain.

Sherry Rehman compared the current situation to the 2010 floods that devastated Pakistan.

He said that at least 30 districts of Sindh, almost entire Balochistan and South Punjab are facing severe humanitarian disaster, people are running for safety of life and property, livestock and crops have been damaged, this situation. It is tantamount to a human disaster'.

Sherry Rehman added that the provincial and federal governments are not able to deal with the situation in view of the severity of the disaster, urging international partners to activate the relief campaign.
