The President of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan conferred the 'Order of Union' medal on Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa.
According to a statement issued by the Public Relations Department of the Pakistan Army (ISPR), the Army Chief was given this honor 'in recognition of his significant role in the promotion of bilateral relations'.
The Army Chief is on an official visit to the United Arab Emirates where he met the President of the UAE, ISPR said.

In the meeting, both sides discussed issues of mutual interest, bilateral defense and security cooperation and regional security situation in the Middle East.
The ISPR statement added that the two leaders agreed that Pakistan and the UAE have a rich history of cordial relations and deep spirit of brotherhood which is evolving into an enduring partnership. .
Earlier on June 26, 2022, Saudi Crown Prince and Deputy Prime Minister Muhammad bin Salman awarded the Chief of Staff of the Pakistani Army with the 'King Abdul Aziz Medal of Excellent Class'.
On 9 January 2021, he was awarded the 'Bahrain Order (First Class) Award' by the Crown Prince of Bahrain, while on 5 October 2019, he was awarded the 'Order of Military Merit' by King Abdullah II of Jordan.

Similarly, the Russian Ambassador who visited Pakistan awarded the Army Chief with 'Commonwealth in Rescue and Letter of Commendation of Russian Mountaineering Federation' on 27 December 2018.
Earlier on June 20, 2017, Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa was honored with the Turkish Legion of Merit Award.
