The Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) has reportedly affected YouTube services in some parts of the country during the speech of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman and former Prime Minister Imran Khan. was banned last night.



When Imran Khan addressed a party rally at Liaquat Bagh in Rawalpindi, there was a disruption in service while a case was registered against him under the terrorism section for his controversial speech in the capital.

NetBlocks, an organization that tracks internet outages, confirmed this.

NetBlocks said in a tweet that real-time network data showed that some mobile and fixed-line internet providers in Pakistan were affected during the live streaming of the speech.

It was further stated that access was restored after the end of the speech, which was analyzed with a sample size of 100 at 14 points across Pakistan.

Digital rights lawyer Osama Khalji condemned the disruption and demanded that the government and the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) explain it.

He said that no law allows political censorship of online platforms.

PTI also condemned it and said that coincidentally YouTube was fully functional as soon as our historic rally was over.

He further said that freedom of expression has completely disappeared in Pakistan.

PTI leader Hamad Azhar alleged that there is complete censorship and crackdown on freedom of speech in Pakistan, such fascist acts did not happen even during martial law.

Former Human Rights Minister Shireen Mazari criticized and said that regime change plotters are so scared of Imran Khan that YouTube was blocked by PTA in the middle of (his) speech today, which is shameful.

Meanwhile, Team YouTube has responded to users and admitted that it has seen similar reports of the website not working in Pakistan and is looking into them.

Yesterday, the Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) banned all TV channels from broadcasting live speeches of former Prime Minister and Chairman Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Imran Khan.

The notification issued by PEMRA stated that "Imran Khan's speech has been banned under Section 27 of PEMRA Ordinance 2002".

In the notification, referring to Imran Khan's speech at F-Nine Park Islamabad last night, it was said that Imran Khan is constantly making baseless allegations against state institutions, his statements against state institutions and officers are Article 19. There are also violations.
