 Russian President Vladimir Putin has said that pipeline gas supply to Pakistan is possible and revealed that the necessary infrastructure for gas supply is already in place.



 According to the Russian official news agency "RIA", Vladimir Putin expressed these views during a meeting with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit in Samarkand, Uzbekistan.


 According to the statement issued by the media wing of the Prime Minister's Office, Russian President Vladimir Putin met with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. In the meeting between the two leaders, bilateral relations and issues of mutual interest were discussed.

 Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has arrived in Uzbekistan from Islamabad on a 2-day visit to attend the annual meeting of the heads of state of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO).


 Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, Finance Minister Miftah Ismail and Defense Minister Khawaja Asif are also present with the Prime Minister.


 Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif was welcomed by Prime Minister of Uzbekistan Abdullah Aripov upon arrival at Samarkand Airport.


Upon arrival in Uzbekistan, the Prime Minister went to Khizr Complex from Samarkand Airport, where he visited the shrine of Islam Karimov, the first President of Uzbekistan.


 Prime Minister's meetings with other world leaders


 At the SCO summit, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif held informal meetings with Iranian President Ibrahim Raisi and other world leaders.


 Iranian President and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif acknowledged that bilateral relations are progressing in a positive manner.


Earlier, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif met the President of Uzbekistan Shaukat Mirzayev.


 According to the statement issued by the media wing of the Prime Minister's Office, bilateral relations and issues of mutual interest were discussed in the meeting between the two leaders.

 Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, Khawaja Asif, Miftah Ismail and other senior officials also participated in the meeting.


 Later, the Prime Minister met the President of Tajikistan, Imam Ali Rehman, and discussed the strengthening of reliable, constructive and high-level relations, inter-parliamentary relations, defense and security relations between the two countries.


 According to the official news agency 'APP', the two leaders agreed to work together to strengthen peace, stability and security in the region, especially in Afghanistan.


 The two leaders held detailed discussions covering all aspects of mutually beneficial bilateral cooperation, including regional and global issues.

 Tajik President Imam Ali Rehman expressed his deep sympathy and condolence over the loss of human lives and destruction caused by the recent floods in Pakistan and assured the full cooperation of Tajikistan in the relief and rehabilitation efforts of the affected people.


 The Prime Minister thanked Tajikistan for helping the flood victims in Pakistan and was aware of the details of the disaster caused by the massive floods due to climate change.


 According to the report, the Prime Minister expressed satisfaction over the growing political, commercial, economic and cultural cooperation between the two countries.


 They emphasized the need for strategic partnership to promote security, mutual trust, counter current global threats and challenges, enhance regional stability and expand political, trade and economic cooperation.


 The Prime Minister emphasized the importance of regular meetings of bilateral institutional agenda and establishment of mutually beneficial cooperation for implementation of energy projects.


 He also reiterated Pakistan's commitment to the timely completion of the landmark Casa 1000 power transmission project.


 The Prime Minister stressed the importance of expanding cooperation and connectivity in the road transport sector and Pakistan's readiness to facilitate access to Gwadar, Karachi and Tajikistan.


 The two leaders also discussed regional and global issues of mutual interest and agreed to work together and maintain close contacts to strengthen peace, stability and security in the region, especially Afghanistan.


 Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif invited President of Uzbekistan Imam Ali Rehman to visit Pakistan while Tajik President Imam Ali Rehman also invited Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to visit Tajikistan.


 The Prime Minister will attend the dinner given by the Uzbek President in honor of the heads of the countries and after that the Prime Minister will also meet with the President of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

 Earlier, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has arrived in Samarkand on a 2-day visit to Uzbekistan to attend the 22nd annual meeting of the Council of Heads of State (CHS) of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization.

 Before his departure for Samarkand for a 2-day visit to Uzbekistan, the Prime Minister expressed his views in a message on a social media website related to the Shanghai Cooperation Organization summit.

 In his tweet, he said that the global economic downturn has highlighted the need for more cooperation among SCO member countries.

 He added that the 'SCO Vision' represents the aspirations of 40% of the world's population.


 The Prime Minister said that Pakistan reiterates its commitment to the 'Shanghai Spirit', which can be the basis of mutual respect and trust, common development and prosperity.
